You can't say it is because we're such different types of society. Canadians were your former colony too and their whole country acknowledges it. Americans and Brits are Anglophones. Both the US and UK are predominantly Protestant within our Christians. You have a lot more Atheist and Agnostics than us that so you can't use religious rhetoric. Yet 5 of our states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Iowa) and our capital Washington DC recognize gay marriage. 4 of those 5 states were apart of your 13 colonies! The place where you kicked your religious nuts out to. Yet we've socially adapted to this universal right quicker? And if people in those states move to New York, Maryland, Rhode Island and California (although being debated there), you'll be recognized. And what part of UK will you be recognized? Your west Germanic lingual Dutch partners recognize their rights. Even their partial cultural descendants in South Africa granted (that came from the influence of Afrikaaners too and not the Xhosa or other African tribes). Despite all the oppression, even up until a recent time, they adapted to that quickly. Why can't you? Why don't one of your politicians in parliament do something? Is it because you British citizens are holding them back and telling them you don't want it? The next time you Britons criticize the US or Israel for being ''inhumane'' for the death penalty or treatment of Palestinians, you should remember two things. Women have the equality to actually be on the front lines in Israel unlike in your country. And even the people who costantly complain are socially behind you did something you still can't do!...
